The DRONEMASTER

My drone adventure began with curiosity. What do you see when you leave the ground behind? The answer turned out to be bigger than I thought: patterns, colours and details that stay hidden from the ground.

I will never forget my first flight. A small aircraft high above my head, and suddenly I saw the world the way a bird sees it. A little nerve-racking too: can this bit of technology really fly? That feeling has stayed with me, every flight anew.

What started as a holiday hobby grew into a profession. I learned to fly in wind and cold, to wait for the right light, and discovered that the most beautiful images often appear when you least expect them.

These days I fly for TV series and for my own work, with the licences to fly safely as a drone operator in the EU. From the frozen lakes of Waterland to the snowy forests of Finland and the cliffs of Étretat: I am always searching for that one composition.

After the flight, the second part of the work begins. I select, carefully finish the photo and have it printed on textile, stretched in a black aluminium frame or a wooden floating frame. That is how a moment in the air becomes an artwork on the wall.
