The story

Purple sky in the snow

Kittilä, Finland

In Finnish Lapland, the winter sun barely rises above the horizon. The light stays low for hours, colouring the snow-covered forests and the frozen river a soft pink and purple. At temperatures far below zero, everything seems to stand still.

The work captures that remarkable winter light: no bright colours, but a soft glow over an endless forest. Cool in mood, yet warm in tone.
